Holidays in Fuerteventura

Longest beaches in the Canaries

Holidays in Fuerteventura are a beach-lovers' paradise. The island is home to 125 miles of magnificent beaches, the largest of which measures a whopping 60 miles in length and 19 miles in width. Fuerteventura's beaches range from the rolling golden sand dunes of the north to the flat sand beaches of the south. Fuerteventura was the first of the Canary Islands to be born from volcanic activity. The famous golden sands have travelled in from the Sahara Desert over a long period of time.

Infamous for its water sports

Some of the most popular beaches include: Jandia beach with its 20-mile stretch of fine white sands and backdrop of mountains; Costa Caleta beach with its attractive horseshoe-shaped bay; and Costa Calma's winning combination of peaceful sands and turquoise seas. Holidays in Fuerteventura also feature beautifully clear waters and a wide choice of water sports. Numerous surfers, windsurfers and divers flock to the island every year, and July sees the P.W.A World Windsurfing Speed and Slalom Event held in Sotavento. Most of Fuerteventura's beaches are accompanied by a good selection of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Excursions in Fuerteventura

The island hosts a wide range of excursions, including: the traditional fishing village of Morro Jable; the Jandia National Park; the Tefia Craft Village; and the Betancuria Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography. Holidays in Fuerteventura also offer popular family activities, such as Corralejo's fun-packed water parks. Evenings in most resorts are relatively relaxed, spent dining on fresh seafood and watching the spectacular sunsets. Corralejo offers a livelier scene with sports bars, discos and nightclubs.
